Returned to Tunnel Falls and went out to Twister Falls on July 23, 2011.
Pictures of that hike are HERE.
Not a bad day although it started out rainy. Great hike with many, many
magical falls.
Take Exit 41 off I-84, turn right at the fish hatchery and follow the road for
about a mile to the very end. This is a well worn trail that is well marked.
Getting lost is pretty much impossible. Just follow the creek for 6 miles or so
and you will run into Tunnel Falls. Metlako Falls can be viewed from a small spur
off the main trail. The Lower Punchbowl Falls trail is definitely worth the side
trip.
You'll need a NW Forest Pass and since there are frequent break-ins at the trailhead
leave nothing of value visible inside your car.
It rained a LOT for the first few hours...
There are a LOT of falls on this hike!
Metlako Falls
Waterproof boots are pretty much a requirement on this hike, at least at this time of year.
