Birthday cupcakes at Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach, Oregon.
We couldn't have asked for a nicer day. Sunny, warm, nice breeze. We got here
early Sunday morning so Cannon Beach was still fairly deserted. That would change in
a few hours though. Walked down the beach for a mile or so and took some obligatory
Haystack Rock pictures.
The tide was out so we got to walk out to the base of Haystack Rock which was a
first for me, even after having lived here for 26 years.
The joint was teeming with life. Starfish, mussels, barnacles, little fish....
very cool. It was nice of Eloise to arrange all of that.
Julie is always getting picked up by Sailors....
After a yummy pizza lunch we headed up to Ecola State Park and hiked down to
Crescent Beach. We like it there.. not many people since it's only accessible
via this trail and many tourists aren't up for the 2 1/2 mile round trip.
Julie scored quite a pile of pristine condition sand dollars.
Here's a picture of Julie taking a picture of me taking a picture of her
taking a picture of me.
Land Ho! Errrr....
A turkey vulture takes a lunch break...
Headed back to Portland at around 16:30. Stopped for water at the general store in
Hamlet, Oregon (the town that Julie says doesn't exist)..
It was a perfect day (except that I am now a geezer...)
Thanks Julie! Thanks Eloise!
