East from Portland take exit 44 at Cascade Locks. Follow the main road through town
(East). After you go under the freeway, turn left at the stop sign. Continue East on
the frontage road on the South side of the freeway for about 2 more miles to the Herman
Creek Campground sign. Follow the "hiker" signs to the trailhead parking area (which isn't very big).

Northwest Forest Pass required.

Wet, overcast, cool, not all that wonderful day weather-wise. And there isn't much to
see on this hike unless you enjoy the deep forest. So not many pictures are posted
on this page. We were in the clouds most of the time so even when there would have
been a view, there was too much fog to get a decent picture.

Returned on August 7, 2011 and got some better pictures. This time we took the Nick Eaton Trail.

Took a little side trip to the Herman Creek bridge before setting out for Indian Point.
When you get to the signs below (about 3/4 mile from the trailhead) go right, down the
hill for about 1/2 mile. This trail eventually connects with the PCT. If you are going
to Indian Point or the Nick Eaton trail, stay left.

Herman Creek.

About a mile past the Herman Creek bridge turn off, there is a 3-4 car parking area.
You'll want to go left and through the parking area, past the above sign (which is easy
to miss....). If you come across this goodly sized blow down that's been here for a
while, you're going the correct way.

This next blow down is HUGE! But you can easily walk under it.

In about 4 more miles, you will come to a crest where you will see this sign for the
Nick Eaton trail. Continue following the trail you've been on for another 100 feet or so.
There will be a VERY steep downward trail to your left. Follow that out to Indian
Point. Probably some good views out there on a clear day.

Except for staying on the well marked trails, not much else noteworthy to show you
except for Indian Point itself.
